Agrobics has developed an innovative immobilization technology of bacteria for high-rate anaerobic treatment processes, which will cut the energy consumption of wastewater plant by 35% as well as providing other substantial cost savings.  The technology has been successfully piloted at Pri Gat and Tnuva. The innovation arm of Mekorot, Israel’s national water company has become enthused by the technology. Mekorot, jointly with AgRobics team are testing the innovative solution at a pilot-scale system in Carmiel wastewater treatment plant.

Aqwise develops and implements innovative solutions for wastewater treatment for the municipal Industrial market. The company's solutions increase the effectiveness of the biological wastewater treatment process. Aqwise enables quick, readily available, and affordable upgrades to existing facilities, as well as the construction of new facilities with a smaller footprint. Aqwise's unique technology combines biomass carriers with a unique structure and a particularly effective planning process. Part of the cooperation between Aqwise and Mekorot has involved harnessing the technology for nitrate removal in the provision of potable water. after a successful testing phase, the technology has met the stringent standards and received approval from Israel's Ministry of Health, for its implementation in nitrate-contaminated wells.

Atlantium has developed a technology for water disinfection in real time and at high flow rates. The method is based on exposing the water stream to an ultraviolet-based HOD light system. The technology has been successfully implemented in active wells that are owned and operated by Mekorot.

BacSoft has developed a platform for controlling and monitoring water and other facilities in the field through the cellular network, anywhere in the world.
The platform enables customers to receive alerts' monitor' and control their production, monitoring, and communication systems via the web, WAP, and SCADA interfaces. The system provides a toolbox that enables customers to build an application that is tailored to their needs. Conducted tests of the BacSoft system at Mekorot field sites, which validated it as a high quality, effective system. Since this validation, the system was implemented within Mekorot facilities for routine use.

BallTech Energy has developed an innovative sand filtration system for the WSMF filter. In its unique backwash system, sand is automatically circulated and builds a clean layer within the filter for the following filtering cycle. Approximately 95% of the backwashed water is saved for re-use in the WSMF filter. This a higher re-use rate than that of other backwash filters with filtration qualities up to 5µ. In addition, the sand is not locked when rinsed in the WSMF filter.
The filter has no external systems required for backwashing the sand, such as air blowers and sprayers. Furthermore, sand replacement is not an imperative step. Thus, the WSMF filter has low maintenance costs. Tests on the WSMF filter are currently underway at Mekorot's Tzofar site and an experiment for optimizing the manganese removal MnM technology, developed by Mekorot.

BQR’s advanced software tools easily calculate RAMS Key Performance Indicators (KPI) of complex systems allowing detection of design issues before they occur in the field, analyzing and optimizing the exist maintenance.  BQR’s tools are used by utility providers for data driven decision making during design stage and maintenance planning of major facilities and infrastructure. BQR’s software and consulting provides quick insight regarding design and maintenance issues that save the customer considerable time and money. The companies cooperate in demonstrating provision of recommendations for optimal maintenance of motors system in the Jordan district.

C.Q.M. manufactures automatic cleaning systems for industrial heat exchangers at power plants and other facilities.  C.Q.M. is responsible for the development, design, and manufacturing of thousands of water treatment and energy saving systems in more than 20 countries worldwide.  The company has developed an innovative electrolytic chlorination system with a self-cleaning mechanism that allows system use of hard water without damage to the anodes.  The system is currently installed for full-scale testing at a drinking water well in Jerusalem. An experiment, conducted in a well supplying drinking water in Jerusalem that was completed successfully.This yielded additional cooperation on implementing these systems abroad.

Mekorot has begun a trial to test the performance of the technology in the operation and maintenance of high voltage boards, which require skill and strict adherence to safety rules. Mekorot completed successfully an experiment.

Genaphora develops innovative kits for the quantitative detection of contaminants that harm drinking water quality. The technology is based on the remarkable abilities of the sequence analysis method to effectively identify and distinguish contaminant types. The solution involves the routine use of qPCR technology. This technology is intended for the replication and real-time quantitative monitoring of DNA sequences' as an alternative to currently available conventional solutions. This dramatically shortens the time needed to identify contaminants from days to hours. The solution has been implemented in Mekorot's central laboratory at Eshkol site.

The result is Mem-Tech membranes that have a clear competitive edge of smaller footprint, lower energy consumption, and savings in capital and operating expenses.

The Company develops and produces modular floating covers for water reservoirs.  The cover prevents evaporation and improves the quality of water in the reservoir, reducing water temperature, preventing algae blooms, and distancing birds.  The cover is easy to operate and significantly lowers reservoir operating costs.  A trial assessment of the cover at Mekorot field locations was successful and led to reduction in evaporation of up to 94% while reducing water temperature, improving water quality and distancing of birds.  The company finished developing a new and advanced version  of the product based on its knowhow, and received the approval of the Israeli Air Force for the product.

Omya is a leading global producer of industrial minerals (mainly fillers and pigments derived from calcium carbonate and dolomite), and a worldwide distributor of specialty chemicals. Omya recently developed an innovative remineralization process for desalinated water for which the company has filed a number of patents. Mekorot through WaTech® and the Desalination & Special Projects team jointly works with Omya to pilot test and demonstrate the new technology at one of Mekorot's desalination plants. Once the project is completed we will be able to show that the new modular and robust Omya Advanced Remineralization Process (OARP) comes with improved efficiency at small plant footprint, providing unparalleled pristine final drinking water quality, at Mekorot's LAHAT desalination facility.

The proposed solution is based on pump scheduling optimization through the effective choice and management of a number of contracts for the purchase of electricity and water sources. HASE3 Technologies has developed a unique and innovative predictive maintenance solution for the monitoring and detection of mechanical failures in three-phase electric power motors and connected equipment. This solution facilitates the early detection of unforeseen mechanical failures, and thereby reduced the costs of subsequently larger operation and maintenance repair events in electric motors and generators. Since operational repair costs have a big influence on the financial viability of the industry, phase3 can provide a significant benefit to OPEX costs. Mekorot and Phase3 completed a successful trial of the technology and Mekorot is implementing the solution in its different sites pumping equipment.

RealTech Corporation, a Canadian company founded in 2004, manufactures simple and inexpensive sensors for continuous monitoring of water contaminants such as nitrates and organic materials. Mekorot and RealTech are cooperating in R&D project that has been funded by the Canada-Israel Fund (CIIRDF). In this project, RealTech provides high quality sensors to measure UV absorption in the relevant spectrum and Mekorot developed and provides a sophisticated algorithm that will upgrade the system so that it will be able to differentiate normal changes in the content of organic matter in the water from events in which organic pollutants cause a worsening of water quality.

ROTEC Ltd. has developed innovative technologies that streamline membrane desalination processes (reverse osmosis and nanofiltration). The method is based on a reversal of the flow direction between the feed and the concentrate in the high pressure compartments of reverse osmosis and nanofitration systems. Changing direction prevents sedimentation of sparingly soluble salts and scale buildup on the membranes, preventing membrane blockage. The system proved to be effective in a trial that was carried out at a Mekorot testing site, and Mekorot is currently assessing the feasibility of implementing the solution in one of their desalination plants. Alongside this method, Rotec Ltd. Has developed a unique sensor that detects the formation of fouling on the membrane in the high pressure compartments. Thanks to the sensor, the flow reversal process can be controlled in real time, thereby further maximizing efficiency.

Solaris Synergy has developed an innovative solar energy generating system that floats on top of water reservoirs. This allows the double use of every unit of surface area that is occupied by water reservoirs by overlaying the water with floating standard PV panels. Solaris Synergy and Mekorot have successfully completed beta testing at Mekorot's Tekuma Reservoir, and an installation of the new-generation system is currently operational at the Eshkol site as a demonstration site.

The dedicated WCK platform provides risk management solutions for the risks that are unique to water infrastructures, with their IT and OT layers. The system is relatively quick to implement, and provides a prioritizing tool, recommendations to reduce risks, and management tools for monitoring risk mitigation processes in an organization. The system manages this process automatically, displays aggregate risks in accordance with the degree of business risk, and enables decision makers to channel their investments in an optimal way. With the help of the operational risk management system of White Cyber Knight (WCK), the unique knowledge gathered by Mekorot in the field of operation and water security can be automated, and an interactive dashboard can be created to provide real-time risk warning messages during the operation of water systems. The Company completed a successful trial at Mekorot's Central and Southern regions.
