Aim of Development Division: Managing and executing water economy development projects with a long-term view, and their professional and efficient realization according to planned schedules, budgets and quality standards.

Avrum (Avraham) Ben Yossef

Position: Deputy CEO Engineering and Technology.

Previous positions: Manager of Water and Environmental Quality Assurance Department, Manager of Engineering Development Department (Projects), Chief Engineer Southern District, Mekorot.

Education: M.Sc., Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering faculty, Technion, the Israel Technical Institute Haifa. B.Sc. Water Engineering, Agricultural Engineering faculty, Technion, the Israel Technical Institute Haifa. Senior Business Management, Bar Ilan University, Graduate Studies (one year), Directors course.


The Engineering Division is responsible for ensuring the efficient supply of water in the quantities and quality required by combining advanced technologies to models and monitoring operational processes to ensure optimum safety and security. The division leads research projects relating to water, desalination and water treatment technologies in cooperation with other companies operating in these fields.

Dani Sofer

Position: Acting Deputy CEO Organization and Administration.


Previous positions: Manager of Central District, Director of Mekorot's Jordan District; began his work at Mekorot as a water and machinery engineer in the Center District.

Education: B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering and Soil and Water Engineering, the Technion, Haifa. MBA in Business Administration with specialization for engineers.


Perisa Carlos


Present Position: Acting Manager Central District.


Previous Position: Central District Engineer. Started work at Mekorot as a water engineer. 

Education: B.Sc. in Agricultural Engineering, Technion, Haifa. M.Sc. in Agricultural Engineering, Ben Gurion University, Negev.


The Central District is responsible for supplying water the most populated region of Israel along the coast and in the mountain region. Its boundaries extend from Binyamina in the north and the Bardaleh area (Jenin) in the east, to the outskirts of Ashkelon in the south and Mitzpe Shalem to the east. The district includes all of Judea and Samaria, the cities of the Dan and Sharon regions, Jerusalem and its environs. The district operates two water supply units – the North Yarkon and South Yarkon.


Ariye Amsalem


Present Position: Director of the Southern District


Previous positions: Director of the Mekorot Jordan District; began work at Mekorot as a supervisor of engineering and maintenance in the Southern District's business unit.


Education: BA in Electrical Engineering, the Technion, Haifa. MBA in Business Administration, the Ben Gurion University.


The Southern District is characterized primarily by its scarcity of water sources. Its boundaries extend from Ashkelon - Kiryat Gat, to Masada and south to Eilat. The desert climate which is characteristic of the Southern District and the few water sources, require the district to deal with different types of water of varying quality. This makes it necessary to carry out many procedures and processes to provide a reliable supply of excellent quality water to local residents, mainly for the agricultural – rural sector.



Yossi Shmaiya

Position: Director of the Jordan District.

Previous positions: Director of the Arava Water Supply Unit in “Mekorot”; began his work at “Mekorot” as a water engineer in the North Negev region.

Education: BA in Water and Soil Engineering (Machinery), the Technion, Haifa; graduate of a senior business management course.

The Jordan District is responsible for the management and operation of largest water projects in Israel – the National Carrier. The district operates through three field units: the “Stations” Unit, the “Carriers” Unit and the “Laboratories and Drainage Basin” Unit. These are responsible for treatment of surface water – the Kinneret water and the water supply from the Sapir Station on the banks of the Kinneret to Rosh Ha’Ain.


Hila Tirosh

Position: Legal Counsel.

Previous positions: Senior lawyer at “Mekorot”; lawyer at the “Balter, Got, Aloni & Co.” law firm.

Education: LL.B.


The Legal Advisor is responsible for all legal aspects relating to Mekorot's activities and includes the provision of legal advice to company management and its various divisions. The Legal Advisor also assists in setting policies and providing guidance, represents Mekorot before government ministries, statutory bodies and parliamentary committees. He also provides assistance in legal and judicial issues, drawing up of contracts and other legal documents, coordinating legal processes that the company is involved in and is a member of the company's Contracts and Tenders Committee.


Ruth Renert


Position: Director of Media and PublicRelations and Company Spokeswoman

Previous Positions: Director of Regulatory Affairs at Discount Bank, Director of Public Relations of Israel Small and Medium Enterprises at the Ministry of Industry, Spokeswoman for the Committee to Combat Road Accidents in the Knesset

Education: MA in Public Policy and Administration, Ben-Gurion University, Beer Sheva

The Company Secretary is responsible  for the connecting, coordinating and centralizing  between the management and the board of directors and its committees, in all matters connected with the Company’s activity which entails the Board's involvement – whether obligatory or optional. This includes the preparation of Board meetings, preparation of materials for discussion and following discussions, management of reports to the Government Companies Authority and the Registrar of Companies, monitoring the implementation of decisions and more.
