Water Sampling
Mekorot has developed a large variety of sampling protocols to support its ongoing water quality monitoring activities. The protocols are used both in the field and the laboratory and enable the company to efficiently analyze the water quality of the water in wells and reservoirs on a regular basis.
Disinfection
To disinfect its water sources and maintain its water systems, Mekorot uses a variety of chemicals. The company operates over 500 installations in which it disinfects and treats water combining a variety of advanced technologies to assure complete permeation and disinfection of the entire system. In addition, Mekorot fluoridates Israel’s drinking water supplies.
Additional water treatments are conducted in specific regions of the country as required by local conditions. For example, in the arid Arava region, Mekorot oxidizes and filters the water to separate out dissolved iron particles that clog irrigation systems.
